Long View, Morvah

We are excited to announce  that Long View, Morvah has been granted planning permission. The new family residence will be perched dramatically on the West Penwith Coast in Cornwall.

We were commissioned to replace the existing 1950s bungalow with a two-story residence and were inspired by the surrounding area, focusing on sourcing materials within a 10 mile radius of the site.

Specific to some of the medieval buildings of the local area, is the cruciform plan, which has been introduced to Long View. The main living space is placed on the first-floor level and the bedrooms are snugly placed on the ground floor. This positioning allows for the panoramic view of Portheras Cove and the sea from the living room.

Working closely with Webb Yates, we have designed a post-tensioned granite slab roof which crowns the house. In dialogue with the granite roof we have used broken elements of the stone to mark the house’s perimeter to encourage rewilding and promote biodiversity.
