This is the Pollinaria Sanctuary project providing private workspaces in the Italian landscape as part of our masterplan for the development of a farm into an artists residency.
The building enables artists to produce artwork in various mediums inspired by science, agriculture and the landscape of Abruzzo. Each space is created using self supporting triangular stone slabs that are connected together to form an inhabitable Icosahedron. The forms are interconnected to create a network of spaces that can be expanded in the future and follow the topography of the landscape. The solid stone slabs are typically 75-100mm thick with chamfered edges to enable them to be connected using joggle joints. We worked with Webb Yates Engineers to develop the design and hope to produce a prototype in the near future.
