The Clients of this project wanted to extend on their existing home to maximise their kitchen, dining and living experience and to create something that inspired and excited them. The Clients expressed to us an interest in both the ancient Pyramids of Giza and the epic 1997 film, Titanic – which gave us quite a unique base point to work from! The Clients also expressed a wish to lean into a “Mediterranean bistro” feel that is vibrant and joyful. 

We approached the brief firstly by creating a symmetrically pitched roof with a central roof light that draws from both pyramids and nautical inspired form. A central hanging metal rack covered with plants and herbs allows for dappled light to cover a grand terrazzo island designed to be main focus of the space. We leant into a playful colour palette to give the client excitement and joy while also creating a functional social space for a growing family.
