Blue Lion Studio

Our Blue Lion Studios project reimagines an outdated commercial space within a former printworks. Transforming it into a flexible, low-energy office environment that inspires creativity and collaboration. Balancing modern functionality with the building’s industrial heritage, we created a workspace that prioritises sustainability and user well-being.

A muted, cohesive material palette honours the mill’s character, while modernised services and thoughtful upgrades enhance performance without compromising its authenticity. The layout maximises natural light and thermal efficiency, creating a comfortable, productive environment. Strategic interventions, including a new heat pump and MVHR system, show how cost-effective measures can significantly improve a building’s sustainability.

Collaboration with local craftsmen and consultants was central to the design process. This supported the local supply chain while also giving the workspace a distinctive, handcrafted quality that reflects its local context. The result is a space that feels both unique and deeply connected to its heritage.
