Sartfell Visitor Centre
2018The Sartfell Visitor Centre is the second phase of a cohesive vision, following the Sartfell Rural Retreat. Set within the same expansive grounds, it commands sweeping views of the Mountains of Mourne, the Irish Sea, and the Mull of Galloway in Scotland—a haven for ornithologists. The site’s transformation focuses on rewilding former sheep pasture into native woodland, meadowland, and acid bogs, supporting rare orchids and invertebrates. Designed as a single sculptural form, the Visitor Centre integrates seamlessly with the landscape, providing a field research facility. The structure respects the site's gradient, discreetly nestled into the hill and framing a panoramic window towards the Irish Sea.
